Haaa, we’ve been waiting for her for a while and she’s finally here! Playmobil has finally released for the year 2019-2020 a new collection of toys on the theme of knights, the Novelmore range!
In terms of buildings, it consists of the volcanic fortress of the Burnham Raiders 70221, the citadel of the Novelmore Knights 70222 and the great castle of the Novelmore Knights 70220! At the level of the extensions of the castles, there are two for the Novelmore Knights’ Castle: the extension wall and catapult for the Great Novelmore Knights’ Castle 9839 and an extension tower for the Great Novelmore Knights’ Castle 9840.
Playmobil has also brought to market packages larger than the basic castles with extensions such as the Maxiplaymo Novelmore II (reference PM1911M) which contains the large castle and its figures, the two extensions and four other Novelmore Playmobil knights. A large pack also exists on the Burnham Raiders side, it is the Maxiplaymo Burnham Raiders I (reference PM1908G) which includes the Burnham Raiders Volcanic Fortress 70221 as well as the extension facade with prison and breakable wall for the Volcanic Fortress 9841.
The history of the Novelmore Knights
But let’s go back to the knights’ camp we’re interested in, the Novelmore knights’ camp! The scenario proposed by the German toy brand is as follows: for the moment, peace reigns in the kingdom of Novelon. But this peace is threatened by the Burnham Raiders knights, who want to seize the armor that makes invincible, the Invicibus. But it has been hidden by a temporal sorcerer at the request of its creator, Dario Da Vinci. To possess it would give too much power to one side or the other! In case of attack, the Knights of Novelmore are waiting for them to fight back! Attacking their great castle won’t be easy!
In Playmobil’s Novelmore range, some very interesting new characters are appearing, especially on the Novelmore side:
- King John: this character dressed in blue and with a long white beard is a very strict king reigning over Novelmore. He is very close to tradition, which causes him conflicts with his son with more modern ideas, Prince Arwynn, who is to succeed him.
- Arwynn : this young man is the son of King John. Heir to the throne of Novelmore, the prince is different from his father, he has a great thirst for adventure. Modern and open to the world, he likes to take long walks in the kingdom.
- Dario Da Vinci : in addition to being Prince Arwynn’s best friend, he is also a fantastic inventor. It was he who created the armour that makes the wearer invincible, the Invicibus. To protect it from the Burnham Raiders, he asked the temporal sorcerer Timithor to hide it in a secret place.
- Lord Francis Forthwind : He’s a loyal knight to King John. Despite the fact that he is the Supreme Knight of the Order of Knights, he is not the last when it comes to lazing around and having a good time !
- Gwynn : The only female character in the range, she is a great friend of Prince Arwynn. Her will? To become Novelmore’s first female knight. Obstinate, she will do anything to achieve it !
Note that not all the characters mentioned above are present in set 70220, but you will find King John, Prince Arwynn, Dario Da Vinci and Lord Francis Forthwind. In addition to these characters, your child will find a horse and a wolf.

The Grand castle of the Novelmore Knights 70220
The Playmobil 70220 set is a very complete castle. The building is equipped with a drawbridge that can be raised and lowered mechanically. Two catapults built into the castle walls will repel the Burnham Raiders. A ballista will also defend the castle by firing stone projectiles. Stone-throwing gutters further strengthen the defence of the building.
A lifting platform allows the knights to move faster through the fortress. If by misfortune Burnham Raiders knights manage to enter, they can be trapped and forgotten directly through a trapdoor in the ground.
The castle also has a part of its wall that is breakable.
It won’t be easy for the Burnham Raiders to take the fortress!
Dimensions of the Grand Castle of Novelmore Playmobil 70220 : 79 cm x 57 cm x 44 cm. You will be able to enlarge it thanks to two extensions sold separately: the extension wall and catapult for the Grand Castle of the Novelmore Knights 9839 and the extension tower for the Grand Castle of the Novelmore Knights 9840.
